Wellington College is one of the most prestigious independent schools, not only in the UK, but across the world. Founded as a tribute to Duke Wellington, and opened by Queen Victoria in 1859, the College is steeped in history and British educational traditions.

Located in Crowthorne, about one hour from central London, and close to Heathrow airport, Wellington College is like no other school in the world.

Historic and traditional, a truly British experience. This famous and highly respected boarding school provides a world-leading educational environment, and a wealth of first class facilities, all set within an inspirational campus.

Living

  • Single standard rooms in a traditional British boarding house set up.
  • Bathrooms shared by up to five students.
  • Room furniture includes a wardrobe, desk and chair
  • Rooms are cleaned weekly
  • Laundry available at the residence.

Learning

  • Taught by friendly and informative English teachers
  • 20 x 45 minute lessons per week morning or afternoon
  • Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level

  • Students will be placed in an international class with students of different nationalities
  • Lecture style and standard classrooms
  • The majority of classrooms are in Darwin College or in nearby academic buildings
  • Curriculum with emphasis on communication skills
  • Materials included as well as an end of course report and certificate
  • Trinity exam preparation available

Programme

Arrival

Students will be welcomed upon arrival at Wellington College where they will register and get their room keys so that they can check-in to their rooms.

Welcome

On the first evening there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the campus, its facilities and useful information which will help them during their stay.

Activities

Activities are organised in between lessons and during evenings. These activities could be on-site or near to the centre. These may include:

  • Sports such as football, mini Olympics, rounders, table tennis, volleyball and basketball
  • Daytime activities such as scavenger hunt and drama workshops
  • Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show, and team games

Thorpe Park: enjoy extreme rides and attractions at this popular theme park.

3 Week Sample Programmes

Extra

Each 14-night stay will include a number of local visits to attractions of interest, 4 half-day trips to other exciting places/cities and 2 full-day excursions to other major cities like London, Cambridge or Brighton. Transport for trips may be by private coach or public transport.

The programme is for illustrative purposes only and is subject to amendments or alterations.

Student may have lessons either morning or afternoon in week one, alternating weekly after that and visits may change.
