Our centre is located on the large modern city campus of Queen Mary University of London.

All students are staying in comfortable single en-suite rooms in one of the halls of residence in the student village, where students can find both shops and a sports hall. Our centre’s Zone 2 location ensures easy access to central London for students to explore.

Living

  • Single en-suite rooms arranged in flats containing of 5-9 rooms
  • Communal space in each flat
  • Room furniture includes a wardrobe, desk and chair
  • Rooms are cleaned weekly

  • All meals are served in a large dining hall on campus
  • Wi-Fi throughout
  • A deposit of £30 is required upon arrival, replacement of lost room key is £15

Breakfast

Hot breakfast and continental available including juice, coffee, toast, cereal and fruit.

Lunch

Two courses, 3 options including a vegetarian option.
Packed lunches (provided at weekends): Water, fruit, sandwiches, crisps and biscuits

Three courses, 3 options including vegetarian and halal option..

Facilities

  • Large indoor multi-purpose sports hall on campus
  • There are both shops as well as cafes on campus

Learning

  • Taught by friendly and professional English teachers
  • 20 x 45 minute lessons per week morning or afternoon
  • Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level
  • Maximum 17 students per class
  • Students will be placed in an international class with students of different nationalities
  • Classrooms are a mixture of lecture theatres and standard style
  • Classrooms are located in various buildings across the Mile End campus
  • Curriculum with emphasis on communication skills
  • Materials included as well as an end of course report and certificate
  • Trinity exam preparation available

Programme

Arrival

Students will be welcomed upon arrival outside The Curve Cafe where they will register and get their room keys so that they can check in to their rooms.

Welcome

On the first evening there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the centre, its facilities and useful information which will help them during their stay.

Activities

Activities are organised on days when there are no trips and during the evenings, these activities take place either on-site or near the centre. These may include:

  • Sports such as football, mini Olympics, rounders, table tennis, volleyball and basketball
  • Daytime activities such as scavenger hunts and drama workshops
  • Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show and team games

Excursions and Trips

Our students get to explore exciting places around London every weekday, visiting places such as: the British Museum, St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge experience,

Brighton: A vibrant, popular seaside resort with beautiful architecture, home to the Sea Life Centre

Canterbury: Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is one of the most visited cities in the UK with medieval buildings, notably the gothic architecture of Canterbury Cathedral

Cambridge: This iconic university city is famous for its colleges, where we will visit King’s College

Thorpe Park: A theme park full of extreme rides and attractions

Windsor Castle: Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. It has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years and is today one of the official residences of His Majesty The King.

Oxford: Home to the world’s oldest university, where we’ll visit Christ Church

London evening activity: Students can choose to go to the cinema or a musical. They also enjoy the London Eye, Madame Tussauds and the River Thames cable car experience.

Extra

Each 14-night stay will include a total of 10 local accompanied visits to London with activities and 2 full-day excursions to other major cities such as Cambridge, Brighton and Canterbury. Transport for trips may be by private coach or public transport.
Students may have lessons either in the morning or in the afternoon in week 1, alternating weekly after that.
